Road Department
Operate heavy equipment including motor graders, backhoes, front-end loaders, and tandem-axle dump trucks for the Jefferson County Road Department. Primary responsibilities include grading and maintaining approximately 250 miles of unpaved county roads, clearing ditches and right-of-way vegetation, installing and repairing drainage culverts, hauling fill and limerock material, and responding to storm debris clearing operations. Position reports to the Road Department Superintendent.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating heavy construction equipment. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with tanker endorsement required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions including extreme heat. Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and a Level 1 background check per F.S. 435.
